a night out at London's Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

If you love your films like me and are a huge fan of heart warming dramas and Tom Hanks then you will have definitely seen Forrest Gump! It’s an oldie but a real classic and something even better is that situated in the heart of London’s West End (13 Coventry Street) lies the fabulous Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurant.
This restaurant is a real treat for movie fans and indeed fans of the film Forrest Gump as it contains all the photos, memorabilia, movie slogan frames and all the merchandise you could ever want, and most importantly along with some gorgeous tasting southern American food – mainly shrimp related, but there is also steak, ribs, chicken and salads! As you walk into Bubba’a on the ground level, this is where you are greeted by members of staff where you can make your booking or check in for your reservation, but also down here is the marketplace part of the restaurant which is simply any Forrest Gump fans heaven.
Here you will find everything movie related to purchase such t-shirts, hot sauces, mugs, movie quotes and more! There is also a bench which has the famous ‘box of chocolates’ on it! It’s very easy to spend a good half an hour or more downstairs just absorbing all the goodies for sale before heading up to your table for lunch or dinner. The restaurant itself is perfect for couples, families and very child friendly. It is a very good size with plenty of staff on hand to assist you. There is a life size Tom Hanks wall photo, and also a plaque card on the table which on one side says ‘stop Forrest, stop’ (this is used when you want service) and ‘run forest, run’ (this is used when you do not require assistance). It’s actually quite clever as some restaurants either don’t come and serve when you need them or they actually bother you too much so this way – you get service when you want and you can also have ‘you time’ when you want to enjoy your dining experience.
The menu is something of a treat as there are so many choices of cocktails/drink, appetisers, mains and a page dedicated to some yummy deserts.I do like a cheeky cocktail now and again and would highly recommend the Starboard Sunrise (priced at £8.95) purely as it’s so refreshing, a real thirst quencher and is full of great fruit goodness and taste! The staters are a shrimp lovers heaven with dishes such as The Traditional Shrimp cocktail (priced at £9.75), Best Ever Popcorn Shrimp (priced at £6.95), Shrimper’s Net Catch (priced at £14.75/£29.50), and a whole lot more on the menu.My favourite has to be the ‘Run Across America’ sampler (priced at £15.95) as this has a varied selection of starters all in one and is actually a perfect size for at least 2-3 people. The main courses are a very good size and therefore well worth the money you pay for them which for a london based branded restaurant with tasty food- is very good! A favourite main course of mine has to be The Jambalaya (priced at £15.25)- the texture of this dish is more like a risotto and contains shrimp (of course!), chicken and pork sausage in a spicy sauce, garnished with tomatoes and spring onions. This dish is a typical southern state, Deep South dish and to me was perfect as I do tend to like my spicy food although this was by no means HOT, it had a small kick which made it that little bit more different than your average jambalaya, minus the okra which is usually what else is contained in your standard dish.
Another main course that works if Jambalaya isn’t your thing is the Shrimp New Orleans (priced at £16.95). This is a broiled (American for grilled) Shrimp dish served with jasmine rice in a garlic and Worcestershire sauce, sauce- served with garlic bread on the side. A pleasant dish with lots of flavour to it and hits the spot if your hungry. These are only a few dishes from the large menu and if you fancy other choices of dishes, they also do some great baby back ribs, American burgers, fish dishes, salads, sandwiches and more!
After all that food I know it’s hard to even think about the third course, this being my favourite- the deserts- but honestly guys and girls- as full as you might be, do not leave without trying or even sampling out the selection of treats from Bubba Gumps! Feel free to share a small selection of maybe wait a little so you have some space to enjoy your own! If ordering for yourself, I would highly recommend the Chocolate Chip Cookie Sundae (priced at £6.25) which is a delicious and I mean DELICIOUS fresh baked chocolate chip cookie that’s topped with chocolate and caramel sauce, sprinkled with peanuts and seconds with vanilla ice cream and some whipped cream. It’s definitely a treat and a tasty one at that! The Key Lime Pie (priced at £5.50) is also amazing and one to try, and a favourite traditional desert! If your in a group of people and fancy trying a few varied deserts then checkout the Best of The Best Sampler The Hook, Line and Sinker (priced at £8.75). This is definitely great for a small group of you to get stuck in and enjoy some favourites- this trio looks small from the menu but when it arrives, I think you will definitely be most pleasantly surprised! The portions are very generous and here you can taste Mama’s cinnamon bread pudding, Strawberry Shortcake and Chocolate Chip Cookie Sundae. There is something for all and they are all as outstanding as each other and a perfect way to end the night!
Overall I would highly recommend Bubba Gump to families, couples on a night out, movie fans and just everyone as it really is an enjoyable restaurant with great surroundings, dishes to suit all, the portions are generous and the service and staff are always on hand to make your dining experience something special! You certainly won’t be disappointed!

Mayfair is full of magic and sparkle indeed but when you come across hidden gems in the form of food and drink, that’s what makes London even more special. Set in the heart of Mayfair, but nestled in Down Street lies little Espana, a truly amazing Tapas restaurant called El Pirata.  This restaurant really does bring the taste of Spain to London and will leave your taste buds wanting more. The portions are a generous size and are full of taste and succulent in all the right places. The very best in BBQ, with love from Bodean's - Covent Garden, London

Barbecue food is slowly becoming the latest trend and hearing about the ultimate barbecue experience being Bodean's restaurant in London’s Covent Garden, I couldn’t wait to try it out and sample the delights on offer.  The Bodean’s Covent Garden is the newest of their 7 restaurants and the brand was founded in 2002 by Canadian restaurant entrepreneur Andre Blais. This is definitely a meat eaters paradise and a completely different dining experience to I literally feel walking into the restaurant that I am no longer in the UK and that I am in a buzzing Texan bar/restaurant. The restaurant is a style sophistication and definitely has a huge southern vibe to it. Aromas of the food catch you soon as you walk in and instantly have you wondering what’s on the menu.  Whether you like chicken, beef, pork or prawns; there is something here for you.  The menu is quite vast but at the same time each dish is very interesting and leaves you wondering what to actu...

The rise of the UK coffee culture

There is no denying that the rise in coffee culture is growing rapidly year by year. It seems like the sociable and “in” thing to do nowadays is to go and grab a coffee with a bunch of friends and catch up. I have also noticed more and more that coffee is becoming quite the perfect commodity on a social level where it’s being enjoyed by many individuals such as businessmen, university students right through to mums and housewives.   The best thing about it is that coffee manufacturers are now producing a higher quality coffee that can be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home which makes it more enjoyable and more accessible and the best feeling to know that you can enjoy coffee shop style quality at home! There are many coffee brands out there but for me personally I feel that Nescafe are the leading coffee brand and are constantly striving to produce the best coffee for all occasions. There are the Nescafe Dolce Gusto pods which offer you coffee in many differen...
