The very best in BBQ, with love from Bodean's - Covent Garden, London

Barbecue food is slowly becoming the latest trend and hearing about the ultimate barbecue experience being Bodean's restaurant in London’s Covent Garden, I couldn’t wait to try it out and sample the delights on offer.
The Bodean’s Covent Garden is the newest of their 7 restaurants and the brand was founded in 2002 by Canadian restaurant entrepreneur Andre Blais. This is definitely a meat eaters paradise and a completely different dining experience to I literally feel walking into the restaurant that I am no longer in the UK and that I am in a buzzing Texan bar/restaurant. The restaurant is a style sophistication and definitely has a huge southern vibe to it. Aromas of the food catch you soon as you walk in and instantly have you wondering what’s on the menu.

Whether you like chicken, beef, pork or prawns; there is something here for you.
The menu is quite vast but at the same time each dish is very interesting and leaves you wondering what to actually pick.

For starters I had the pleasure of tasting the Bodeans Buffalo Chicken wings. They can either be served wet or dry and if you choose where there is a number of different sauces you can choose from.

So if you’re into a sweet sauce, smoky sauce or a hot sauce there is good choice available. The portion is very reasonable as they give you six large wings in a basket (Priced at an affordable £9.45). They literally have to be the best wings I’ve ever had not only with a tender and very generous on their servings but they were so full of taste I’m really pleased my taste buds I could quite easily had another portion they were that yummy. The flavours were exactly what I was hoping for in that they were full of taste, not bland in any way and had that American BBQ feel to them. I would highly recommend chicken lovers to try these wings!

Should you want to try a little bit of everything, Bodean's offers some lovely Sharing platters which are perfect for two people. The Tasty sharing board for two has to be my favourite as it gives you a lovely selection of good old southern comfort food. it also has some amazingly tasting Mac and cheese balls and Texas smoked sausage. I absolutely adore this make sausage and it works really well with the Bodean’s hot chipotle sauce that is available on the table.

The main menu is the fun part as there is so much choice and if like me you can’t decide on one dish then it’s always nice to go for the combo meals.
For me the ½ chicken, pulled pork and Texas smoked sausage was the best! It gave me an insight to BBQ as I could taste a bit of each and pair it with any sauces too. Definitely worth a try and if you want to add some healthier options on the side then I would recommend trying the Mexican Chopped Salad (Priced at £9.50)- Perfect for two to share alongside a main. The salad contains Avocado, Tomatoes, Black Beans, Radish & Wild Rice, served with a Honey, Lime and Coriander Dressing.

The beef burnt ends are what Bodean’s is famous for and the phrase “No teef to eat my beef” is exactly that - 100% true being succulent and tender, fall off the bone and enjoy!!! Worth a try and I cannot say I was disappointed in the slightest. Full of taste and every bite is pure heaven!

Another dish to shout home about is the Jacobs Ladder Beef Rib meal (Priced at £15.95) - this dish is a must for all beef fans as its been slow cooked for 14 hours, yes 14 hours and when I say it falls OFF the bone- it really does! The soft and sweet juicy pieces of this rib literally melt in your mouth and accompanied with either creamy mash/gravy or fries and coleslaw, you are going to be enjoying every single mouthful with glee.
Its a big meal but one that definitely won't be forgotten in a hurry, infact it will leave you excited for your next visit back to Bodean's. It was pretty special indeed!

Bodean's ribs - Tender & Tasty
Aside from the meaty platters and Beef Burnt ends, Bodean's offer hot-dogs, ribs (so tender), steaks, burgers and sandwiches. There is also a sides menu for smaller extras such as a side of mac & cheese, fries, corn on the cob, BBQ beans and more.

The staff are very friendly and always on hand to assist and answer questions, the booth seating is very comfortable and the atmosphere is very relaxed and your able to enjoy the surroundings too. It’s like a little usa getaway for a few hours with great tasting food and drinks!

Bodean’s is definitely American food with a difference. It’s all fresh, it’s real and it’s so full of taste. This has to be a favourite London eaterie and great for families and groups night outs!

The rise of the UK coffee culture

There is no denying that the rise in coffee culture is growing rapidly year by year. It seems like the sociable and “in” thing to do nowadays is to go and grab a coffee with a bunch of friends and catch up. I have also noticed more and more that coffee is becoming quite the perfect commodity on a social level where it’s being enjoyed by many individuals such as businessmen, university students right through to mums and housewives.   The best thing about it is that coffee manufacturers are now producing a higher quality coffee that can be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home which makes it more enjoyable and more accessible and the best feeling to know that you can enjoy coffee shop style quality at home! There are many coffee brands out there but for me personally I feel that Nescafe are the leading coffee brand and are constantly striving to produce the best coffee for all occasions. There are the Nescafe Dolce Gusto pods which offer you coffee in many differen...
